The battle of Khabib Nurmagomedov against Tony Ferguson is now as formal as the battle of Khabib Nurmagomedov against Tony Ferguson, which can be far from the two best lightweight players, actually placing it in the UFC octagon.
The UFC confirmed at a press conference in Las Vegas on Friday that Numagomedov would play Ferguson’s lightweight title at UFC 249 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 18.
Nurmagomedov and Ferguson planned to fight each other four times, each time falling apart due to injuries or mistakes in weight loss.
Nurmagomedov (28-0) won the lightweight championship at the Barclays Center in April 2018, when he defeated Al-Yakvint in Wantagh’s by unanimous decision. He fought Conor McGregor for the first time at the end of October and defeated by submitting it. However, McGregor was the first fighter to win a round of Russian Mol.
Ferguson (25-3) had 12 consecutive wins and was the interim lightweight champion.
